Prague travel offers many choices. You can travel with comfort by rail for instance. European rail is now so far developed such that the major cities of Europe – and this includes Prague beyond a reasonable doubt – offer travel that is fast, convenient, and securely connected. Long stays on the borders are a thing of the past. Traveling by train has, despite all the modernity and speed, a little of the charm of a time gone by when travel was more adventurous and sophisticated.
For trips outside of Prague, there are very good and direct trains catering to all European countries. Of course, the international trains have sleeping cars. The prices are a little lower than air tickets. As train tickets in the Czech Republic are fairly cheap, it’s worth it to buy a ticket on the train for routes within the Czech Republic.
Be on the lookout for special offers for train fares. Often there are special rates for night trains, group tour discounts, youth discounts and early booking fares.
Most international trains reach Prague at the central station Wilson station. The main train station features a domed main hall at arrivals.
After passing the station Hall you will find a taxi rank on the right side. Straight on are the stairs that take you to the metro. Don’t forget to buy Metro tickets! Ticket machines are located directly in front of the entrance.
